Distance: 28.6 miles (11.6 miles cycle + 17 miles Hike)
Recommended Fitness Level: Good off-road cyclist, confident hill runner able to take on a hilly off road 20-30km.
Recommended Time To Complete: 1.5 hrs + 3 hrs = 4.5 hrs by 16:00.
Support Person: Mandatory support team member required.
Water Stations: Bavelaw and Flotterstone
Description: Same cycle circuit as Silver, and same route as Gold until Bavelaw , Platinum participants run further out to Harelaw and over Maiden’s Cleugh. Just when the finish line is in sight there’s another 5km diversion around the steep hills of Castlelaw. Recommended for the seriously fit or insane as must be completed in 4.5 hours. Suits those training for a marathon, iron man etc.. or able to run 20-30 km uphill pushing a van.

If the physical challenge isn’t up your street we need volunteers to help us run the event. Could you be a:
- Marshall that weekend (particularly those with event experience and first aider skills)
- First Aider that weekend (up to date first aid experience, doctor or nurse)
- General helper on the day (setting up food, water stations, markers)
- Contributor in the run up to the event (home baking, sweet, fruit or water donations welcome or just some free time – even if you are participating)
